Since 2015, with strong community support, a successful annual fund, and project-based grants, Friends of Nobska Light (FoNL) has completed the initial goal of rehabilitating the Lighthouse Tower and developed a Master Plan for the historic buildings and site. However, the Nobska story is far from complete. There is more work to be done. To that end, FoNL launched a phased comprehensive capital campaign in May 2018 to advance the transformation of the Nobska Light property.
1. Preservation and Restoration – Required Investment: $2.5 Million
Complete the historical preservation and rehabilitation of Nobska Light Tower, transform the Keeper’s House into a public facility, and improve the overall accessibility of the Nobska Light property.
2. Maritime Museum and Education Programs – Required Investment: $1.25 Million
Establish a Maritime Museum and develop innovative exhibits, public education programs for all ages, and activities that fulfill the mission while engaging strategic partnerships for collaboration.
3. Fiscal Sustainability – Required Investment: $1.25 Million
Develop effective strategies to address Nobska Lighthouse and Maritime Museum’s long-term financial stability and sustainability, incorporating the diversification of revenue sources, inclusive of ongoing operations and campaign costs during the three-year period.
