Learn the Story of a Falmouth Patriot Lad
Announcing a special offering of tower tours and storytelling commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. The story of John Slocum’s young son (Oliver or William)—a boy of about ten years old—undertaking a perilous night journey to warn the town of Falmouth is one of extraordinary courage and determination. This act, carried out in the tense and dangerous days of early April 1779, proved pivotal in saving the town from destruction during the Revolutionary War.

Wouldn't you like to be a part of this Falmouth historic site. Bricks can still be purchased and a engraved with your own sentiment.
We're excited to announce that the Friends of Nobska Light has been recognized as a valuable contributor to the Falmouth community and nominated as a potential recipient of a 2025 Martha's Vineyard Bank Community Choice Grant!
These grants not only celebrate dedication to the community but also empower the public to participate directly in the grant-making process.
Four $5,000 grants will be awarded based on community votes received -- two to Martha's Vineyard-based nonprofits and two to Falmouth-based nonprofits.
Each email address can vote once for a Falmouth nominee and once for a Martha's Vineyard nominee (voting in both communities is optional).
As we continue our progress towards the ultimate goals of preserving Nobska Light, curating items for a Maritime Museum and developing exciting educational programs to better serve our community, we count on support like the grants provided by Martha's Vineyard Bank (@marthas_vineyard_bank) to make it all possible.
